Things are not always as they appear, especially when it comes to social media. We portray our lives the way we want others to see us, and that often involves leaving out our struggles and darkest secrets.
The following story explains how one dad turned to Facebook to confess something he had been holding in for a long time. It wound up devastating the entire family and ended in tragedy for everyone involved…
When Keisha and her husband’s relationship was falling apart, the couple reluctantly agreed to a divorce. They shared two children together and once the relationship was over, Keisha packed her bags and moved to North Carolina with her son.
At the time, Keisha’s ex-husband Earl ran a limo service and many described him as a caring person. However, once their relationship ended, Earl got angry and lashed out at Keisha…
Reportedly, Earl became increasingly abusive around the time when Keisha fled to North Carolina with her son, Earl Jr. The 15-year-old quickly became the man of the house and aimed to protect his mom and sister, Debonet.
Earl Jr. Stepping Up
Around the same time of their divorce, Keisha’s father passed away, so more than ever, she needed the support of her children. Earl Jr. stepped up to the plate and even acted as a mini-dad to his mom and sister, recording a video the day his older sister left for college…
In the video Earl Jr. tells the camera, “Hopefully you keep this in memory for when you go to college, you’ll be able to watch this and remember your brother when you go to college.” When Debonet left, Keisha and Earl Jr. adjusted to life just the two of them. Things seemed to be going well until she got a hair-raising Facebook message from Earl.
According to the couple’s daughter, Debonet, her father messaged her mom on Facebook saying that he would kill her and then kill himself. “I just didn’t know when and where,” Debonet said…
The family took the threat so seriously because they noticed their dad becoming increasingly angry since the split. Keisha wound up being granted a one year domestic restraining order against her ex-husband and for some time, he stayed away.
But, as the restraining order neared it’s one-year end, Earl planned to make his move. He went to Keisha’s North Carolina home at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning and kicked in the back door…
He Shot Keisha
Keisha and Earl Jr. were both asleep when Keisha saw Earl walk into her kitchen and put a gun to her chest. He pulled the trigger, shooting her five times, while Keisha tried to run away. She then collapsed in her room, shutting the door behind her and falling on the ground.
Earl Headed For His Son
She distinctly remembers saying to herself, “‘I’m going to die on this floor.’” Keisha felt a trickling come from her chest and felt the blood pour out of her and her only thought was, “‘Where is Earl Jr.?’”
Calling For Help
That’s when she started calling her son’s name and she heard a low voice on the phone. Earl Jr. had called 911 and said to the operator, “‘Me and my momma been shot, my daddy did it.” At that moment Keisha’s heart wrenched.
Last Few Breaths
Earl went to the home that night to kill Keisha, but when his son got in the way, he tried to kill him too. Earl Jr. lay dying on the floor and his only thought was to use his last breaths to call 911 to save his mother…
Earl Jr. gave the operator his address and that’s the last thing Keisha heard her son say on that phone call. Then, to make the entire incident even more chilling, Earl left and went in his car to record a video on Facebook.
In the live video he confessed to killing his wife saying, “I love my wife, but she deserved what she had coming.” He continued, “She lied on me, had warrants taken out on me. She drug me all the way down to nothing.” While Earl was posting his disturbing confession, police arrived at the home…
Putting His Mother First
Keisha had her back against the door and she put her hands out and said, “I’m in here, I’m in here, but check on my son I think he’s been shot.” She then heard her son say, “‘Don’t worry about me, save my momma, don’t worry about me.’”
Earl Jr. had instructed the officer to go to his mother’s room instead of his. The 15-year-old boy wound up dying that morning, but the call he made got Keisha to the hospital in time to save her life. Earl was still on Facebook live while his son was dying and his ex-wife was fighting for her life. Police were able to get in touch with Earl on the phone and he told them he was on his way to kill more family members…
Earl also seemed to be “cold and callous” during the call and police said they’ve never seen anything like this before. They couldn’t believe Earl would be bragging the way he was on social media. Chief Bartholomew who spoke to Earl said, “When we spoke to him on the phone he told us he is basically armed and dangerous.”
Earl Was Still At Large
Earl’s family members were placed under police protection while officers searched for him throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and parts of Virginia. Police finally tracked Earl in Richmond, Virginia who was reportedly there visiting his father’s gravesite…
Took His Own Life
By the time they arrived Earl was gone and had fled to South Carolina, where U.S. Marshals found him dead in his motel room. He reportedly died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was never able to be charged for the horrific murders he committed.
Keisha’s Life Now
Today, Keisha asks herself why she is still alive and why her son had to die for something he had nothing to do with. But she pushes through for Earl Jr. knowing that he didn’t save her for no reason. Keisha is gathering her strength to handle what happened to her.
