As millions around the world patiently wait for April the Giraffe to give birth, a pregnant woman in South Carolina decided to live stream her own waiting game.
Erin Dietrich, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., is 39 weeks pregnant and due with her fourth child any day now.
She told ABC 7 Chicago she, like many other moms, has become “obsessed” with watching April the Giraffe, so her husband suggested ordering a giraffe mask on Amazon so they could recreate the scene when Dietrich goes into labor. When the mask arrived on Sunday night, they decided to try it out for their friends on Facebook live.
In the video, Dietrich does her best April impression and paces around her bedroom, stretching and dancing, just like April.
Dietrich’s video quickly went viral and less than 24 hours after she posted, it received more than 15 million views. “We were not expecting this at all!” Dietrich said. “Now we might have to do this every night!”
Dietrich plans to film an update when her son, Porter Lane arrives, and he is due on March 14.
Have you too been patiently awaiting the moment April the Giraffe gives birth?
