Groom Surprises Bride With Pug On Wedding Day

The wedding day is one that couples remember for the rest of their lives, but one Scottish groom took it upon himself to make sure his bride had a truly unforgettable day.

“To give Keri her perfect wedding day meant that there had to be a pug. There was no way I could let that pass,” said Stephen Watt, who knows how much his new wife, Keriann, loves pugs and decided to surprise her with her very own puppy during their wedding reception.

Stephen started planning the surprise five months before the wedding, and only told his best man, usher, and the wedding videographer to make sure Keriann wouldn’t find out. And when it came to the big moment, Stephen gave Keriann a duck dog toy and told her to squeeze it. Moments later, her confusion vanished as she saw the dog breeder carrying out a tiny pug puppy.

“I thought it was some sort of joke. When I saw the pug, I couldn’t quite believe it. I was overcome with emotion and a little overwhelmed,” Keriann said. “You can tell from the way the guests cheered just how much we all knew this meant to Keri. It really was a big thing for her,” said friend and wedding videographer John Paul Lusk of Leven Films.

“My obsession with pugs started easily 10 years ago. Due to my love for pugs, over the years, friends have indulged me with pictures, cushions, soft toys, salt shakers, etc, and when people came to our home they couldn’t believe that we didn’t have a real one. I can’t quite believe that I have my own real one now and no longer have to stalk poor pug walkers in the parks,” said Keriann, who will bring her new puppy home from the breeder once she and Stephen return home from their honeymoon in New York.
